Graphic representations of women's heads on
anthropoid coffins of the 21a Theban Dynasty
1070-945 BCE
Through this and similar comparative studies we are trying to determine which coffins of
the period were made in the same workshop, or whose decoration was mapped out by the
same outline draughtsman. This section will be augmented and similar comparative studies
of other parameters will be published here as time allows. The important comparative
points are the mouth and the line of the breast when shown.

If you have access to coffins of the period, please check them out for the characteristics of
women's faces. If you find anything related to a face shown here, or on the following
pages, please let us know at
admin@cesras.org and if possible give us a web address where
an image can be found so that we can make a link. The principle goal of the CESRAS
network is both to make graphic and pertaining material accessible to all of those
interested, and to encourage interactivity between scholars and institutions owning or
dealing with such....
