This site is being constructed by the Centre for Egyptological Studies and the Russian Institute of Egyptology in Cairo of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This new multinational project will concentrate on the arts, crafts and technologies of Islamic Egypt from the Conquest until the present. Our orientation is strictly secular and non-political; contributions will be accepted on this basis.
The basic language of the site is English, but we will accept contributions in all languages (images in .jpg, texts in .html). Naturally contributors will be given full credits, as in all academic journals, and links to pages where their work appears.
We need the cooperation of scholars and lay-persons with knowledge of this period, and of websites to which we can provide links. We would be most interested in your participation.
Thank you for visiting this new site and come back from time to time to see how it is developing. Salam alekum!
